Air Flow Meter/Sensor: Service and Repair
Intake Air Temperature Sensor and Mass Air Flow Sensor
Removing
- Remove air guide hose from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (G70).
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
- Carefully remove Intake Air Temperature (IAT) sensor (G42) and Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (G70) from guide on upper part of air filter housing.
Installing
• Tightening specifications => [ Air Filter, Assembly Overview ] Air Filter, Assembly Overview.
Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:
To ensure Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor functions correctly, observe the following notes and follow the procedure exactly.
• Replace O-ring.
• If the air filter element is very dirty or soaked, dirt particles or moisture may have contaminated the Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and may be causing false mass air flow values. This results in a reduction of power, since a lower injection quantity is calculated.
• Always use an original equipment air filter element.
• Use a silicon-free lubricant to install the air duct hose.
• Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.
- Check Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor and air guide hose (intake air side) for salt residue, dirt and leaves.
- Check air duct up to air filter insert for dirt. Clean air filter housing (upper and lower part) of salt residue, dirt or leaves (by washing out or extracting).
- Install upper part of air filter housing => [ Air Filter Element ] Air Filter Element.
