Affected Vehicles





Condition

^ MIL on.

^ DTC P0327 (knock sensor 1-G61, signal too small) or P0325 (knock sensor 1-G61, circuit malfunction) in ECM memory.

Technical Background

The condition is caused by humidity ingress in the knock sensor or its wire.

Engine performance is not affected.

Production Solution

Improved knock sensors with extra heat insulation and a special bracket for a modified installation position.

Service

1. Replace knock sensor G61 with wiring harness 03H 905 377A.

2. Tighten the mounting bolt of knock sensors to 20 Nm.





3. Check whether holder 03H 971 501 D (the new knock sensor bracket that is twisted 15°) is installed.





4. If the old knock sensor bracket 03H 971 501 A is installed, replace it with the new bracket 03H 971 501 D (Figure 2, A)





5. Install extra heat insulation 03H 971 461 (Figure 2, B and Figure 3).
