Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 87 number 08-16 dated December 5, 2008 for reasons listed below.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
DTC 00003 (control unit mechanical fault sporadic or permanent) in the rear AC control panel. There is no customer complaint.
By design, the rear A/C panel is turned off if the child lock in the drivers door is activated. In this condition, the rear A/C control panel will only display three hyphens (---). This affects only Audi Q7 with rear climate systems.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
If a button is unintentionally pressed on the rear A/C control panel for longer than 30 seconds, DTC 00003 is sporadically or permanently logged.
If the child lock is activated in the drivers door by mistake, the rear A/C panel is switched off. Should a client now attempt to turn the rear A/C on by pressing buttons for some length of time, the control module could set the same DTC 00003 entry.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
No change.
SERVICE
If 3 hyphens (---) are shown on the rear AC control panel, deactivate the child lock in the driver's door.
If the following fault entry is logged in the rear AC control panel and if there is no customer complaint, delete the fault entry.
