Models

Rear sunroof panel reverses when closing

Condition

The rear sunroof panel reverses during closing operation.

Technical Background

If the rear sunshade stops are deformed or missing, the sunshade arch retracts further than intended when the sunshade is open. The arch is then lodged against the sunroof panel.

When the rear sunroof panel is vented, the sunshade arch retracts further still and rests against the headliner. When the rear sunroof panel is closed, the sunshade arch interferes with normal movement of the sunroof panel.

As a result, when the rear sunroof panel is closed, it encounters resistance from the sunshade arch, the pinch protection intervenes, and the sunroof panel reverses.

Production Solution Optimized sunshade stop in preparation.

Service

Check the position of the rear sunshade arch when fully open. Open the rear sunroof panel.

If the sunshade arch rests against the headliner, the sunshade stops are deformed or missing and can cause this malfunction.

Postpone repairs until the optimized sunshade stop is available.
