Vehicle Information
Condition
The exterior and interior mirrors usually dim if a light source is detected by the inside mirror light sensor. When the gear lever is put in reverse, the mirror should become brighter as described in the owner's manual. A customer may report that the mirrors stay dim when reverse gear is selected. The mirror light level can still be selected manually at the interior mirror.
Technical Background
The reversing signal is not provided from the Electronic Central Electrics J519.
Production Solution
Wiring harness change.
Service
A wiring cable (0.35 mm2) has to be installed from the Comfort System Central Control Module J393 to the Electronic Central Electrics J519. Use a plastic corrugated harness protector and tie wraps to avoid rattling noises and damage to the wire.
1. Comfort System Central Control Module J393: Crimp the end of the wire together with the terminal of position 18 of the 32 pin - connector B.
2. Route the wire through the trunk as shown in Figures 1 and 2.
3. Continue to route the wire along the left rear side panel, as shown in Figure 3.
4. Continue to route the wire along the left wheel arch, as shown in Figure 4.
5. Continue to route the wire under the carpet to the footrest (Figure 5) and to the Electronic Central Electrics J519.
6. Electronic Central Electrics J519: Cut the wire to the appropriate length and crimp the end together with the terminal of position 9 of the 32 pin - connector C.
