Front Seat Ventilation Control Modules (J799)/(J800)

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Trim Removal Wedge (3409)

Removing


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Restraint System Components General Safety Precautions ] .

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Bring seat into service position. Refer to => [ Driver Seat, Bringing Into Service Position ] Driver Seat, Bringing Into Service Position.

- Switch the ignition on.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

- Disconnect the connectors - 1, 2 and 3 -.






- Disengage the hooks and remove the connector couplings from the bracket.

- Disengage the hooks - 5 and 6 - and remove the bracket - 4 - for the connectors from the trim bracket - arrow -,

- Disconnect the connector - 2 - on the right front seat ventilation control module (J799) /left front seat ventilation control module (J800) - 1 -.






- Release the tab in - direction of arrow A - using the (3409).

- Remove the control module from the bracket - arrow B -.

- Release the tab on the control module - 8 - on the mount.

- Remove control module.

- Unclip the connector - 3 - on the bracket.

- Unclip the wire holder - 4 and 5 - on the bracket and remove the bracket - 6 and 7 -.

Installing


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to=> [ Restraint System Components General Safety Precautions ] .

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

Make sure the control module audibly engages into the bracket.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Switch on ignition.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

- If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
