Rear Heating & A/C Unit, Bringing Into Service Position
Rear Heating & A/C Unit, Bringing Into Service Position
• Refrigerant lines and coolant hoses remain connected (refrigerant circuit and cooling circuit are not opened).
• After installing rear heating & A/C unit, check condensation water hose with valve for correct fit, refer to => [ Condensation Water Drain ] Condensation Water Drain.
Switch off ignition.
- Slide condensation water drain - B - into vehicle interior from below (disengage condensation water drain - B - from rear floor plate - C - to do so).
- Remove left side wall trim in luggage compartment and floor pan..
- On vehicles with air spring suspension system, disengage pressure reservoir from vehicle and set it down in center of vehicle so that air connection is not twisted, pinched or otherwise stressed or damaged (air connection is not sealed).
- Mark connectors to Right Rear Vent Temperature Sensor (G406) and Left Rear Vent Temperature Sensor (G405) (risk of interchange) and disconnect them from sensors, refer to => [ Right and Left Rear Vent Temperature Sensors (G405) and (G406) ] Right and Left Rear Vent Temperature Sensors (G405) and (G406).
- Remove insulation - A -.
- Remove mounting bolts - B -.
- Disconnect electrical connections - A - and - B - and secure the loose connectors to vehicle for example, with adhesive tape so that they do not interfere with removal of heating & A/C unit.
- Secure wires bypassing at heating & A/C unit (for example, wire - C -) to vehicle body with adhesive tape so that they do not interfere with removal of heating & A/C unit and are not damaged.
- Remove bolts - D -.
- Release clamp - F - on condensation water drain hose - G -.
- Disengage heating & A/C unit from air guide - C -, pull heating & A/C unit slightly toward rear and then tilt it carefully toward the right to do this.
- Set down the heating & A/C unit on to a suitable surface.
• Make sure when tilting heating & A/C unit that coolant and refrigerant lines must not be pinched or twisted, do not allow the heating & A/C unit to hang on these lines.
• After installing heating & A/C unit, check coolant hoses - E - for proper fit in pass-through - D - and condensation water hose for proper fit and routing, refer to => [ Condensation Water Drain ] Condensation Water Drain.
• After the designated work steps have been performed, re-install heating & A/C unit and removed components in the reverse order.
