Repair of A 0.22 Sq.mm or 0.35 Sq.mm Wire Connection
0.22 Mm 2 Or 0.35 Mm 2 Wire Connection, Repairing
NOTE:
- There are three different repair wire cross sections (0.5 sq.mm, 1.5 sq.mm, 4.0 sq.mm) and appropriate crimp connectors in the Wiring Harness Repair Kit VAS1978.
- 0.5 sq.mm repair wire must be used for repairing 0.35 sq.mm wire.
The repair procedure is as follows:
- Strip ends of 0.22 sq.mm or 0.35 sq.mm wire using Wire Stripper VAS1978/3 (12 to 14 mm).
- Twist bare strands one-half turn.
- Using wire stripper, strip off ends of 0.5 sq.mm wire (approx. 6 to 7 mm).
- Slide crimp connectors onto ends of wires and crimp together on both sides using Crimping Pliers Without insert VAS1978/1.
NOTE:
- Always ensure correct red Crimp insert For VAS1978/1 VAS1978/24 for 0.5 sq.mm is selected.
- Take care not to crimp insulation of wire ends.
- After crimping, shrink down crimp connector using Hot Air Gun VAS1978/14 and Shrink Tip For Hot Air Gun VAS1978/15.
- Crimp connector must be heated working outwards from center until it is completely sealed and adhesive emerges.
- Adjust hot air blower to appropriate temperature according to instructions.
- When shrinking-down take care not to damage any other wires, plastic parts or insulating material with hot nozzle.
- If repair wire was previously wrapped, yellow insulating tape must again be wound around this point; re-secure wire with a cable tie if necessary.
