Upper Control Arm, Repairing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Assembly Tool (3301)

• Thrust Plate (VW 401)

• Thrust Disc (VW 412)

• Tube Trans. Drive Shaft (VW 426)

• Assembly Tool (T10219)

• The upper control arm us removed. Refer to => [ Upper Control Arm ] Upper Control Arm

- Mark the position of the bonded rubber mount on the basis of the slot - arrow - with respect to the upper control arm.






Pressing Off






- Mount the tools as illustrated.

1. Punch (VW 412)

2. Sleeve (3301/4)

3. Upper control arm

4. Sleeve (VW 426)

5. Thrust plate (VW 401)


Pressing In






- Coat the outside of the bonded rubber bushing with some installation lubricant. Refer to the Parts Catalog.

- Mount the tools as illustrated.

1. Punch (VW 412)

2. Bonded rubber mount

3. Upper control arm

4. Assembly tool (T10219/1)

5. Thrust plate (VW 401)


- Continue to press the inner core of the bonded rubber mount until the bead - arrow - slips out of the control arm.

2. Drift (T10219/2)

3. Upper control arm

4. Assembly tool (T10219/1) with the cutout upward toward the control arm

5. Thrust plate (VW 401)


- Install the upper control arm. Refer to => [ Upper Control Arm ] Upper Control Arm.
