Condition
- MIL on.
- One of the following DTCs for Bank 2 Cam Position (CMP) sensor 2 - G163 and/or CMP sensor 4 - G301:
- DTC P000C ("A" Camshaft Position Slow Response (Bank 2)
- DTC P000D ("B" Camshaft Position Slow Response (Bank 2))
- DTC P0018 (Crankshaft Position-Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 2 Sensor A)
- DTC P0019 (Crankshaft Position-Camshaft Position Correlation Bank 2 Sensor B)
- DTC P0021 (A Camshaft Position (Bank2) Timing over-advanced or System Performance)
- DTC P0024 (B Camshaft Position (Bank2) Timing over-advanced or System Performance)
Technical Background
During the engine starting phase, electrical current near the engine wiring harness can create electrical interference to the Bank 2 CMP sensors G163 and G301.
The electrical interference only affects Bank 2 CMP sensors G163 and G301.
Production Solution
Electrical filter installed in Bank 2 CMP sensors G163 and G301.
Service
1. Remove air guide hose between Bank 2 air filter housing and throttle body for access to G301 CMP sensor.
2. Replace Bank 2 CMP sensors G163 and G301. Refer to ElsaWeb for repair instructions.
3. Clear ECM DTCs and set readiness code in Guided Functions.
