TCM - Reports The Incorrect Absolute Load Value
01 08 082014739/2
November 19, 2008.
Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 01 number 07-11 dated April 5, 2007 for reasons listed below.
Affected Vehicles
01 TCM absolute load value incorrect
Condition
TCM will report the incorrect absolute load value (PID 43) in generic mode on any scan tool.
Technical Background
Two different absolute load values are observed when looking at Service 1 and Service 2 in generic mode on any scan tool. The absolute load value is correctly reported by the ECM but is incorrectly reported by the TCM due to an error in the scaling factor in the software. The TCM does not use this value for diagnostics or control, therefore this error poses no impact on the control or the operation of the vehicle. The absolute load value transmitted from the TCM is 40% to 60% lower than the correctly transmitted ECM absolute load value.
Production Solution
Error corrected for MY2008.
Service
Do not replace the TCM or ECM for this condition.
For actual correct absolute load value readings, refer to ECM Service 1.
For TCM confirmed DTCs only: To reproduce Service 2 TCM values, please refer to TCM Service 1 values.
