Electrical and Electronic Components and Locations
Diagnostic Connection
Installed location: The diagnostic connection is located in the driver side footwell.
Check the following components with Guided Fault Finding using the vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051.
Transmission Control Module (J217)
Installed location: The transmission control module is installed under the front right seat.
Removing and installing, refer to => [ Transmission Control Module ] Service and Repair.
Selector Lever Transmission Range Position Display Unit (Y26)
Installed location: The selector lever transmission range position display unit next to the selector lever. The display shows "P, R, N, D, S".

Selector Lever Sensor System Control Module (J587) with Tiptronic Switch (F189)
Installed location: The selector lever sensor system control module with the Tiptronic switch is on the selector mechanism under the selector lever boot.
• The selector lever sensor system control module and the Tiptronic switch are a single component.
• The Tiptronic switch magnets are secured to the cover.

Shift Lock Solenoid (N110)
Installed location: The shift lock solenoid is on the selector mechanism.
Removing and installing, refer to => [ Shift Lock Solenoid (N110) ] Service and Repair.
Transmission Range Display (Y6)
Installed location: Integrated inside the instrument cluster.
• The transmission range display can only be replaced together wit the instrument cluster.
Multifunction Transmission Range Switch (F125)
Installed location: On the selector shaft, on the outer right side of the transmission.
• Always check the connector for the multifunction transmission range switch before replacing it. Refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission

Removing and Installing, refer to => [ Multifunction Transmission Range Switch ] Multifunction Transmission Range Switch.
Mechatronic Unit
Installed location: The Mechatronic unit is bolted to the bottom of the transmission housing and is covered by the transmission fluid pan.
Various speed sensors, pressure sensors and solenoid valves are installed on the Mechatronic. Refer to => [ Mechatronic Unit Overview ] Description and Operation.
