Note:
^ For performing work, secure engine using Bracket VAS 609511-6A to Engine and Transmission Holder VAS 6095.

^ Do not turn crankshaft when measuring radial play

^ Lubricating grooves face outward

^ For cylinder block with oil groove
^ Do not interchange used bearings (mark)
^ Insert new bearing shells for cylinder block with proper color marking
18 - Seals
^ Replace
Baffle plate tightening plate
- Then tighten bolts in sequence - 1 to 16 -.
Sealant applied on cylinder block (for guide frame)
- Clean sealing surfaces, they must be free of oil and grease.
- Apply sealant beads - arrows - on clean sealing surfaces of guide frame as shown in illustration.
^ Thickness of sealant beads: 2.0 mm.
- Install seals - 1 to 4 -.
Installation position of alignment bushings
- Check whether alignment bushings - arrows - are inserted at locations in guide frame as shown in the illustration.
Installing guide frame
- Replace bolts - 1 to 20 -.
- Tighten bolts for guide frame as follows:
- Tighten bolts - 1 to 10 - to 30 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 11 to 20 - to 20 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 1 to 10 - to 50 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 11 to 20 - to 30 Nm with torque wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 1 to 10 - 90 °(1/4 additional turn) using a rigid wrench.
- Tighten bolts - 11 to 20 - 90° (1/4 additional turn) using a rigid wrench.
- Tighten cylinder block/guide frame sealing surface bolts, - highlighted in illustration but not numbered -, in a diagonal sequence to 9 Nm.
