Rear Seat Backrest, Fixed

CAUTION!
Observe safety precautions for work on airbags.





Removing

- Remove rear bench seat: through October 2004. Refer to => [ Bench Seat, through October 2004 ] ; from November 2004 => [ Bench Seat, from November 2004 ].

- Remove headrests. Refer to => [ Headrests with Locking Mechanism ] or => [ Headrests without Locking Mechanism ].

- For vehicles with ski sack, remove ski sack frame. Refer to => [ Ski Bag Frame ] Rear Seat Covers and Cushion.

- Remove headrest guides:

Headrest guides with slide in locking mechanism, refer to => [ Headrest Guides with Locking Mechanism ] Rear Seat Covers and Cushion

Outer headrest guides without slide in locking mechanism, refer to => [ Outer Headrest Guides without Locking Mechanism ] Rear Seat Covers and Cushion

Inner headrest guides without slide in locking mechanism, refer to => [ Inner Headrest Guides without Locking Mechanism ] Rear Seat Covers and Cushion

- On vehicles with side airbag, disconnect electrical harness connector. Refer to => [ Side Airbag Wiring Connector, Disconnecting ]

- On vehicles with heated backrest, disconnect electrical harness connectors.

- Remove rear backrest - 2 - in - direction of arrow A - out of mountings - 4 -.

- Remove rear backrest in - direction of arrow B - from chassis cut-out.

- Remove rear backrest from vehicle.

Installing

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

CAUTION!
Mountings must be replaced after each removal of rear backrest. Refer to => [ Replacing Mountings ].

Side Airbag Wiring Connector, Disconnecting





- Press catch - 2 - and disconnect cable connector - 1 - in - direction of arrow -.

Replacing Mountings





- Remove used mounting from chassis cut-out.

- Insert the new mounting grommet - 1 - into the body opening until it engages - 2 -.
