A Internal puller 12 to 14.5 mm, e.g. (Kukko 21/1)

Install needle bearings with lettering on bearing (the side with thicker metal) facing towards drift (3013).

Pressing off inner race/tapered roller bearing





- Remove circlip and washer before pressing off.

- Attach grip (VAG 1582/7) and clamp behind bearing rollers.

- Then carefully press inner race/tapered roller bearing out.

- Remove shim "S5" from drive pinion.

• You can also press the inner race/tapered roller bearing out together with the double angular contact ball bearing, refer to => [ Double angular contact ball bearing, pressing off ]

• Installation position: Shoulder on bearing outer race faces toward drive pinion face.

- Place tube (VW 415 A) smaller outer diameter on bearing inner race.

- Press double angular contact ball bearing on down to stop.

• When replacing drive pinion (gear set), you must redetermine the shim " S5". Refer to => [ Redetermining Shim S5 for Positioning Inner Race/Tapered Ball Bearing ] Redetermining Shim S5 for Positioning Inner Race/Tapered Ball Bearing.

Pressing on inner race/tapered roller bearing





- Place shim "S5" on drive pinion double angular contact ball bearing beforehand.

- Warm inner race to approximately 100 °C and press on.

- Lay washer - A -, refer to => [ Circlip , determining ] on inner race.

- Determine circlip - B -, refer to => [ Circlip , determining ] and insert.
