Rear Suspension

Diagonal braces (front/rear), removing and installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
^ Torque wrench VAG 1332

The front and rear diagonal brace are only installed on convertible.

Removing
- Before removing front diagonal brace, remove outer front floor pan panel.





- Before removing rear diagonal braces, remove rear floor pan panel - 1 -.





- If same diagonal braces - 1 -, - 5 - or - 6 - are to be re-installed, mark the position of the diagonal braces in relation to the body with a felt pen or similar.

3 - Subframe

- Lower vehicle onto its wheels.
- Loosen bolts - 2 - and - 4 -.
- Raise vehicle.
- Remove bolts - 2 - and - 4 -.
- Remove diagonal braces - 1 -, - 5 - and - 6 -.

Installing





Align diagonal braces - 1 -, - 5 - and - 6 - with tapped holes or markings on body.

- Install new bolts - 2 - and - 4 -, but do not tighten yet.
- Lower vehicle onto its wheels and bounce suspension several times.
- Tighten bolts - 2 - and - 4 -.

Tightening torque: 65 Nm
- Install outer front floor pan panel and/or rear floor pan panel.
