Windshield Wiper Motor

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry Lever (80 - 200)

Removing





• If the windshield wiper motor is to be run during the work procedure, the hood must be closed, otherwise the voltage supply of the wiper motor will be interrupted.

- Remove plenum chamber cover rubber seal in - direction of arrow -.

- Remove plenum chamber cover - 1 - forward.

- Remove the wiper arms - 2 -- 3 and 4 -. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms ] Windshield Wiper Arms.





CAUTION!
To prevent the cowl grille - 5 - from cracking when removing, coat the transition between the windshield and cowl grille with some soapy water and carefully pull the cowl panel trim vertically out of the retainer on the windshield beginning at the edge of the window.

- Remove securing clips - 1 - and remove cowl panel grille - 5 -.

- Remove plenum chamber E-box cover - arrows -.





- Pry the wiper linkage - 2 - off the ball head using Pry Lever (80 - 200).





- Remove the crank from the wiper motor.

- Unclip wiring or lines at wiper frame.

- Remove screws - arrows - and remove entire wiper frame - 1 -.

- Unplug connector.

- Remove wiper motor from wiper frame - arrows -.





Installing

Install in reverse order of removal, observing the following:

- Bolt wiper motor without crank onto wiper frame - arrows -.

- Connect electrical connector to wiper motor.

- Insert wiper motor with wiper frame and lightly tighten screws.





- Press wiper linkage into stop opposite the - direction of arrow - and tighten screw - 3 -.

- Tighten screw - 2 - and the screw - 1 -.

- Activate "one-touch wiping" and let wiper motor run to end position.

- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

- Align crank - 1 - toward wiper frame.





• alpha = 2°.

- Keep crank in position and hand-tighten nut - 2 - in order to maintain this position.

- Then, hold crank in position using an open-end wrench and tighten nut.

- Switch on ignition.

- Activate "one-touch wiping" and let wiper motor run to end position.

- Check if dimension - alpha - is reached; align again if necessary.

• The wiper arm frame not shown in the illustration.

- Adjust wiper arms. Refer to => [ Windshield Wiper Arms, Adjusting ] Adjustments.
