Center Differential Assembly Overview

CAUTION!
There is a risk of damaging the transmission.

• Do not start or tow the vehicle when the center differential is removed or when the gear oil has been drained.





1 Locking Ring

• For the flange shaft ball bearing

2 Locking Ring

• For the flange shaft

3 Ball Bearing

• For the rear flange shaft

• Refer to => [ Rear Flange Shaft Ball Bearing ] Rear Flange Shaft Ball Bearing

4 O-ring

• Removing and installing

• Coat with transmission fluid

• On the center differential housing

5 Center Differential Housing

• Refer to => [ Center Differential Housing ] Center Differential Housing

6 Seal for the Rear Flange Shaft

• Refer to => [ Rear Flange Shaft Seal ] Rear Flange Shaft Seal

7 Rear Flange Shaft

• Removing and installing => [ Rear Flange Shaft Seal ] Rear Flange Shaft Seal

• When replacing the rear flange shaft, also replace the seal

8 Bolt

• Tightening specifications and sequence

• Removing and installing

9 Ball Bearing

• For the center differential

• Refer to => [ Center Differential Ball Bearing ] Center Differential Ball Bearing

10 Center Differential

11 Transmission

12 Drain Plug

• 20 Nm

• For transfer case filler opening

• Removing and installing

Center Differential Housing - Tightening Specifications and Sequence

- Tighten the center differential housing bolts in two step:

- Pre-tighten the bolts - 1 - and - 2 - to 3 Nm.





- Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm in the following sequence: - 1 to 7 -.
