Mass Air Flow Sensor, Cylinder Bank 1

Removing

- Remove air guide hose between Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) and Throttle Valve Control Module (J338) by loosening hose clamps - arrows -.





- Lay air guide hose with connected vacuum lines - 1 and 2 - on its side.

- Remove three Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) bolts - arrows -.





- Carefully pull Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) out of guide at upper section on air filter housing.

- Disconnect electrical harness connector from Mass Air Flow (MAF) sensor (G70).

Installing

For trouble-free function of the MAF sensor, it is important to observe the following notes and perform the work procedures exactly.

In the event the air filter element is severely contaminated or completely saturated, dirt particles or moisture may penetrate the MAF sensor and falsify the measured air mass value. This results in a reduction of power, since a lower injection quantity is calculated.

Always use an original equipment air filter element.

Always replaced damaged mass air flow sensor O-ring (air leak).

Use a silicon-free lubricant to install the air duct hose.

Secure all hose connections using hose clamps appropriate for the model type.

- Check the MAF Sensor and air duct hose (intake air side) for salt residue, dirt, and leaves.

- Check intake ducting up to the air filter element for dirt. If any contaminants are discovered, clean the air filter housing (upper and lower sections) of salt residue, dirt and leaves (if necessary, clean by washing or vacuuming). - If upper section of air filter housing was removed, check water drain - 1 - in lower section for dirt and contamination (clean by blowing out if necessary).





- Ensure air guide hose is seated securely between Mass Air Flow (MAF) Sensor (G70) and Throttle Valve Control Module (J338).

Further installation is in reverse order.
