Lock Cylinder
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Locking pin (T40011)
Removing
Risk of steering lock seizing.
• Do not actuate the steering lock without the lock cylinder. A blocked steering lock must be replaced.
- Remove the steering wheel and adjustment mechanism completely and lay it down.
- Remove the steering column switch module trim.
• To remove lock cylinder, replacement key without illumination and radio function is necessary because removal is only possible using a key with flat grip.
- Turn the replacement key to the ignition on position; while doing this, the cut out in the trim - arrow - aligns with the hole in the ignition lock.
• The correct lock position without the key is shown in the illustration.
- Insert the (T40011) all the way into the hole and remove the lock cylinder - 1 - with the induction coil from the steering lock housing - 2 -.
• When replacing the lock cylinder, follow the instructions regarding the immobilizer induction coil.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector at induction coil.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Place replacement key in lock cylinder and turn to ignition on position.
- Insert the (T40011) again all the way into the front side.
- Slide lock cylinder - 1 - with induction coil into steering lock housing - 2 -.
- Then remove (T40011) and press lock cylinder securely in until catch engages audibly.
- Install the steering column switch module trim.
Ignition Switch Key Lock Solenoid
Removing
- Remove the steering wheel and adjustment mechanism completely and lay it down.
- Remove the steering column switch module trim.
- Release retaining clip - arrow - and remove safety switch - 1 - from steering lock housing.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- Install the steering column switch module trim.
Ignition Switch
Removing
- Remove the steering wheel and adjustment mechanism completely and lay it down.
- Remove the steering column switch module trim.
- Destroy cover cap retainer - 2 - on ignition switch.
- Pry the cover cap - 1 - out of the ignition switch.
- Disconnect electrical connector - 1 -.
- Release retaining clip by inserting jeweller's screwdrivers - 2 -.
If the procedure is not possible because there is not enough space, assisting tools must be created from 2 wire hooks as follows.
- Take a ∅ 1 mm welding wire and bend the end to form an eye.
- Then cut the wire.
• Dimension - a - = approximately 50 mm.
- File the end of the wire hook into a point.
• Dimension - b - = 5 mm
- Remove ignition switch - 3 - in - direction of arrow - from steering lock housing. The jeweller's screwdriver or wire hooks must remain inserted.
Installing
Install in reverse order of removal, noting the following:
- The ignition switch must slide into the steering lock housing until it engages audibly.
- Install the steering column switch module trim.
