Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217

^ Location: Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217 is on the back end of transmission, secured directly to hydraulic control module.

The following components are integrated in the control module:

A - Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor G195 and Transmission Output Speed (RPM) Sensor 2 G196

B - Transmission Fluid Temperature Sensor G93

C - Multi-Function Transmission Range (TR) Switch F125

D - Transmission Input Speed (RPM) Sensor G182

E - Automatic Transmission Hydraulic Pressure Sensor 1 G193

F - Automatic Transmission Hydraulic Pressure Sensor 2 G194

Hydraulic control module

^ Location: Hydraulic control module is bolted to back end of transmission. Transmission Control Module (TCM) J217 is fastened directly to hydraulic control module.

A - Harness connector for Automatic Transmission Pressure Regulating Valve 1 N215

B - Harness connector for Automatic Transmission Pressure Regulating Valve 2 N216

C - Harness connector for Solenoid Valve 1 N88

Following valves are integrated into hydraulic control module (not depicted here).

^ Automatic Transmission Pressure Regulating Valve 1 N215 (clutch solenoid valve)
^ Automatic Transmission Pressure Regulating Valve 2 N216 (solenoid valve gear)
^ Solenoid Valve 1 N88 (clutch cooling/safety shut-off)
^ Clutch cooling valve
^ Minimum pressure valve
^ Pressure relief valve
^ Clutch control valve
^ Pressure control valve

Note:
^ Valves are monitored via On Board Diagnostic (OBD).

Shift lock solenoid N110

^ Location: Shift Lock Solenoid N110 is located in shift mechanism - arrow -.

Data Link Connector (DLC)

^ Location: Diagnostic connection is located beneath knee bolster on left of steering wheel.

Cruise Control Switch E45

^ Location: Cruise control switch is located on steering column switch.

Transmission Range (TR) Display Y6

^ Location: Integrated in instrument cluster.

Note:
^ Transmission Range (TR) Display Y6 can only be replaced as a set with the instrument cluster.

Power supply relay terminal 87 / Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay J60 and Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Relay J226 (up to 10.04) or Starting Interlock Relay J207 (as of 11.04)

^ Location: On relay carrier in E-box, plenum chamber.

Voltage is supplied differently via terminal 87:

1 - Starter Interlock Alarm System Relay J60 - only in vehicles with 2.4 L gasoline engine

3 - Motronic Engine Control Module (ECM) Power Supply Relay J271 - in all other vehicles with gasoline engine

3 - Power Supply Relay (terminal 30, B+) J317 - in vehicles with Diesel engine

4 - Park/Neutral Position (PNP) Relay J226 (up to 10.04) or Starting Interlock Relay J207 (as of 11.04)

Note:
^ In vehicles as of 11.04, activation of reverse driving lights occurs via CAN-Bus.

Brake Light Switch F

^ Location: Brake light switch - arrow - is located in brake pedal assembly.

Note:
^ Switch is only to be installed once so as to ensure a firm fit.

Kick Down Switch F8

^ Location: In accelerator pedal module - arrow -.

Note:
^ In vehicles with gasoline engine, Kick Down Switch F8 adopts the functions of Throttle Position (TP) Sensor G79 and Accelerator Pedal Position Sensor 2 G185.
