01J Transmission






Transmission Control Module

Observe general repair information. Refer to => [ General Repair Information ] General Repair Information.

Rules of cleanliness for working on transmissions. Refer to => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.

Removing

The Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) can be removed with the transmission installed.

- Remove the end cover. Refer to => [ End Cover, with Transmission Removed ] End Cover, With Transmission Removed.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and pull out the Transmission Control Module (TCM) (J217) without tilting it.





- Remove the twin lip oil seal - A - from the TCM.

When positioning the TCM, ensure the sensor on the control module is not damaged.

Installing

Install in the reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace gaskets and O-rings.

- If necessary, clean the sensors - A -, - C - and - D - of contamination and metal shavings.





- Clean the selector shaft. Refer to => [ Selector Shaft Cleaning ] Selector Shaft Cleaning.

- Before installing the TCM, coat the new O-rings - A - on the hydraulic control module with ATF.





- Install the TCM without tilting it.





Harness connectors - A -, - B - and - C - on the rear side of the control module must engage on the hydraulic control module.

- Tighten bolts - arrows -.





- Install the end cover. Refer to => [ End Cover, with Transmission Removed ] End Cover, With Transmission Removed.

After connecting the TCM, the following steps must be performed:

Complete coding for a new TCM.

Perform adaptation for TCM.

Use vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system (VAS 5051) for this.
