A/C Control Head Climatronic Control Module, Coding
A/C Control Head Climatronic Control Module, Coding
=> [ Control Module, Coding ]
=> [ Coding Table ]
• The "basic coding" of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is performed in this vehicle during the basic setting of the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head by the instrument cluster control module (J285). The data is transmitted via the comfort data bus system to the Climatronic control module (J255 ) A/C control head and the currently valid coding is displayed in the measured value block (display group "019"). For the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head to be coded correctly, the instrument cluster control module (J285) must be coded according to specification and adapted. Refer to => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in the "guided fault finding" function.
• Direct input of coding into the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is provided for certain equipment.
• If the instrument cluster control module (J285) was coded, e.g. for the country version "Japan", the A/C system remains in "recirculation mode" after the ignition is switched off and back on again if the "recirculation mode" was set prior to the ignition being switch off (display group"019").
• For the "Audi Cabrio", different settings are stored for a closed or open convertible top in the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head. When opening or closing the convertible top, the setting is automatically changed by the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head to the value that was last set when the convertible top was closed or open.
Control Module, Coding
• The coding of control modules is only possible with testers into which a workshop code is entered.
- With the ignition switched off, connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A) e.g. with the diagnostic cable (VAS 5051/5A) and the K-wire adapter (VAS 6017B) (or the K-wire adapter (VAS 6017A)) to the 16-pin data link connector (DLC). Refer to => [ VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions.
- Switch the ignition on.
- Select address word "08" for the air conditioner/heater electronics. Refer to => [ VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions.
Requirements:
• DTC memory was queried. Refer to => [ DTC Memory, Interrogating ] DTC Memory, Interrogating and all displayed faults were eliminated and the DTC memory was erased.
• The A/C system is switched on (operating mode "Auto").
Indication on display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A):
- Select the "07 - coding the control module" function.
Indication on display of the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A):
• Display field - 1 - indicates the request to input the coding.
• Display field - 2 - shows input keyboard.
• Display field - 3 - shows the currently valid coding in the fourth line and the previously valid coding in parentheses.
• Display field - 3 - shows the workshop code entered in the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System ( VAS 5051A) in the fifth line.
- Code the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head according to the available optional equipment and the vehicle type, coding table. Refer to => [ Coding Table ]
- Enter the coding provided according to the coding table via keypad - 2 -.
- Press the Q button in display field - 2 - to confirm the input.
After a brief time, the following is shown on the display of the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A ):
• Display field - 1 - shows "coding performed in the vehicle system".
• Display field - 2 - shows the control module identification with the new coding and the old coding in parentheses.
• By clicking the <- button, you will return to the selection menu.
• In the case of input of incorrect coding, the fault message " function unknown or cannot be carried out at the moment" is displayed and the old coding remains saved.
• During manufacture (when delivered as a spare part), the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is currently coded with "00000".
• By coding the vehicle version, the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is set to different types:
• The "basic setting" is effective for the Sedan and Avant (and Coupe).
• In the Cabrio the rear window heating function switches, the control characteristic changes accordingly, and regulation is performed with the convertible top open via the vent temperature sensors (left vent temperature sensor (G150), right vent temperature sensor (G151), etc.
• If Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is coded for a vehicle with the heated windshield (Z2) option, diagnosis and the control function of the heated windshield are activated.
• If the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head is coded for a vehicle with the "sunroof with solar cells " (solar cells (C20)) option, the following settings are currently made to the A/C unit after the ignitions are switched off:
- Both control motors for the temperature flaps, the left temperature flap motor (V158) and the right temperature flap motor (V159) are moved to the "cold" position.
- The central air flap motor (V70) is set in the "air to the instrument panel vents" position and the defroster flap (air in the footwell) is closed via the defroster flap motor (V107).
- The fresh air flap is opened (back pressure flap motor (V71)) and the recirculation flap is closed ( recirculation flap motor (V113)).
