Windshield Wiper System

CAUTION!
Before beginning repairs on the electrical system:

• Obtain the anti-theft radio security code.

• Switch the ignition off.

• Disconnect the battery Ground (GND) strap.

• After reconnecting vehicle battery, re-code and check operation of anti-theft radio. Also check operation of clock and power windows according to Repair Information and/or Owner's Manual.

• Steps after reconnecting voltage supply => Battery.

Windshield Wiper System

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pry lever (80-200)

Removing

- Remove rubber seal for plenum chamber cover.

- Remove plenum chamber cover - 1 - toward front - arrows -.





Wiper Arms, Removing

- Switch windshield wipers on and off and let run to end position.

- Use screwdriver to pry off the two caps - 3 -.





- Loosen hex-nuts - 4 - by several turns.

- Loosen wiper arm - 2 - from wiper shaft by gently tilting.

- Remove hex nuts completely and remove wiper arm.

- Pull off securing clips - 1 - and remove cowl panel grill - 5 -.

Wiper Frame with Linkage and Wiper Motor, Removing

- Remove cover for E-box, in plenum chamber - arrows -.





- Pry off wiper linkage - 2 - from ball head using Pry Lever (80-200).





- Remove crank from wiper motor.

- Unclip line/hose guides on wiper frame.

- Remove bolts - arrows - and remove wiper frame - 1 - completely.

- Unplug electrical harness connector.

Wiper Motor, Removing

- Unscrew wiper motor from wiper frame - arrows -.





Installing

Installation is reverse of removal, paying attention to the following:

- Bolt on wiper motor without crank to wiper frame to 9 Nm - arrows -.





- Connect connector to wiper motor.

- Install wiper motor to wiper frame in vehicle (8 Nm).

- Connect battery. Required steps=> Battery.

- Operate wiper cycle button.

- Let wiper motor run to rest position.

- Align crank - 1 - to wiper frame and tighten nut - 2 - to 18 Nm.

Tightening Specifications





Wiper Blades

Removing

- Lift off wiper arm from front windshield.

- Slide off retaining clip - 2 - from wiper arm - 3 - in direction of arrow.





- Remove wiper blade - 1 - downward from wiper arm.

Installing

- Insert joint piece of wiper arm into guide on wiper blade - arrow 1 -; make sure that the joint piece is inserted completely into guide.





- Lock wiper blade by sliding on retaining clip - arrow 2 -.
