Trim above Rear Door, Removing and Installing

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1783)





Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)





CAUTION!
Note safety precautions for working on airbags => [ Airbag System Safety Precautions ] Technician Safety Information and side curtain airbags => [ Side Curtain Airbag Safety Precautions ] Side Curtain Airbag Safety Precautions.

Replace self-locking screws.





1 Bolt

Tightening specification 3.5 Nm

2 Cover

Removal:

- Remove upper A-pillar trim => [ Upper A-Pillar Trim ] Trim.

- Remove D-pillar trim => [ D-Pillar Trim ] Trim.

- Fold down roof grab handle - 4 -.

- Open cover - 5 - over bolts and remove bolts - 3 -.

- Remove the bolt - 1 -.

- Remove bolt - 7 - by sliding covering plate in eyelets to the rear => [ Partition grille lifting eyes, loosening ].

- Remove cover - 2 -, unclip spring clip - 6 - to do so.

Installing:

To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:

- Lay the rubber seal in the rear side door over the C-pillar trim.

If the front and rear roof grab handles have been removed, make sure that the roof grab handle with clothing hook in rear is installed.

CAUTION!
Ensure trim is held securely.

Tightening specification 3.5 Nm

5 Cover

for bolts

6 Spring clamp

7 Bolt

Tightening specification 9 Nm.

To loosen and tighten, push covering plate in eyelet to the rear => [ Partition grille lifting eyes, loosening ]

- Press covering plate - 1 - in partition grill eyelet - 2 - to the rear and remove the bolt lying behind it.
