Rear Seat Side Upholstery
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1332)
• Torque Wrench (V.A.G 1410)
1 Side Upholstery
• Removal:
- Remove rear bench seat: through October 2004. Refer to => [ Bench Seat, through October 2004 ] ; from November 2004 => [ Bench Seat, from November 2004 ].
- Remove bolt - 6 -.
- Disconnect cable connectors for vehicles with side airbag. Refer to => [ Side Airbag Connector, Disconnecting ].
- Remove nut - 4 -.
- Remove latch bolt - 5 - with washer - 3 - and dished washer - 2 -.
• Installing:
To install, perform the steps used in removal in reverse order. Observe the following when doing so:
- Insert latch bolt - 5 - and tighten nut - 4 -.
• After connecting battery, vehicle options (radio, clock, electrical window regulator, etc.) must be checked.
• If the Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) ( K75) signals a malfunction, DTC memory must be erased and then checked again using the Diagnostic Operation System (VAS 5051 A ).

4 Nut
• Tightening specification 55 Nm.
5 Striker Pin
6 Bolt
• Tightening specification 10 Nm.
Side Airbag Connector, Disconnecting
- Press catch - 3 - on connector for side airbag - 2 - from counterpart - 1 - and remove it.
