Supersedes Technical Service Bulletin Group 90 number 10-06 dated June 3, 2010 for reasons listed below.
AFFECTED VEHICLES
CONDITION
The fuel gauge does not show full even though the tank is completely filled. This may occur after the vehicle has been transported by a vehicle transport truck.
TECHNICAL BACKGROUND
The lowered reading is triggered when the vehicles are loaded onto vehicle transport trucks or when parking on an incline. The vehicle is tilted, causing the fuel level sensor value to change without there being a speed signal in the instrument cluster. As a result, the instrument cluster perceives a refueling process.
PRODUCTION SOLUTION
Instrument cluster (J285) with software level 224 or greater.
SERVICE
1. Follow all instructions in the attached TSB 2011732 00 Software Version Management (SVM), operating instructions.
2. Update the instrument cluster (J285) using the SVM action code as listed in the table below if necessary.
3. If the SVM software flash above does not resolve the concern:
a. Use Guided Fault Finding (GFF) to access instrument cluster J285 through address word 17. Read out the values in Measured Value Blocks 7 and 8 in the instrument cluster.
b. Please create a ticket using the Technical Assistance Center System in ElsaWeb.
