Instrument Cluster Trim
Removing
- Position the steering wheel so that it is as far rearward and down as possible, using the full adjustment range of the steering column adjuster.
- Switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
- Carefully disengage decorative panel - 1 - from instrument panel using trim removal wedge (3409) - arrows -.
- Open coin tray.
- Slide coin tray panel toward the left out of catch - arrow - and remove.
- Open glove compartment.
- Carefully disengage decorative panel - 1 - with switch strip - starting above the glove compartment - from instrument panel using trim removal wedge (3409).
- Pull off decorative panel with switch strip in - direction of arrow -.
• Be especially careful when releasing clip on the driver's side end of decorative panel.
- Disconnect electrical connector.
- Turn knurled wheel - 3 - for left air vent next to instrument cluster completely upward.
- Insert one watchmaker's screwdriver each - 1 - into air vent retaining clamps above the lower ventilation fin - 2 -.
- Pull air vent alternating on left and right side out of the installation opening, watchmaker's screwdrivers must remain inserted while doing this.
• Pull air vent out of installation opening using Hook (3438) if necessary.
- Disconnect electrical harness connector at air vent.
- Repeat the procedure on the right air outlet near the instrument cluster.
- Remove bolts - arrows -.
• Secure a cloth with adhesive tape to protect the steering column trim and the steering column lever.
- Pull the instrument panel cover away from the instrument cluster slightly.
- Disconnect the electrical connectors on the instrument cluster cover.
- Engage the turn signal switch in the bottom switch position.
- Activate the one-touch wiping and hold the instrument panel cover in this wiper switch position.
Installing
Installation is reverse of removal.
Tightening torque:
Instrument cluster/instrument cluster cover to instrument panel: 3 Nm
