Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Drip tray (V.A.G 1306)
• Protective glasses
Conditions
• Gear oil temperature at approximately 20 °C (room temperature).
Filling

• Rules of cleanliness for working on automatic transmissions => [ Clean Working Conditions ] Clean Working Conditions.
- To ensure vehicle is absolutely level, drive onto a 4-column lifting platform or over a service pit.
- Place drip tray (V.A.G 1306) underneath transmission.
- Remove inspection plug - arrow -.
- Fill front final drive with gear oil (specification => [ Front Final Drive Capacities ] Capacity Specifications) slowly over a period of at least 5 minutes until oil drips from bottom of inspection hole.
• A filling time of at least 5 minutes is required so that the internal oil level between the differential and oil fill space can equalize.
• Sealing plug with sealing ring must be replaced.
- Tighten new sealing plug to 35 Nm.
• It is not necessary to check the oil level again at this stage.
