ABS Control Module, Replacing

Removing

CAUTION!
Only disconnect control module from hydraulic unit when removed.

Carefully clean hydraulic unit before removing.

Before removing control module, read out DTC memory and print out fault code if necessary.

Place hydraulic unit with control module on a clean, level surface.

The replacement should only be done by trained personnel.

Hydraulic unit, removing and installing => [ Hydraulic Unit ] Service and Repair

- Loosen bolts - 1 - and remove control module - 2 - from hydraulic assembly without tilting.





- Clean sealing surface - 2 - using a plastic scraper - 1 -. Check valves - 3 - for damage.





CAUTION!
The sealing surface on the hydraulic assembly must have a clean, even surface.

If the sealing surface or contact tags are damaged, hydraulic assembly must be replaced.

The seal on the control module cannot be replaced.

The seal on the control module must not be pulled out or raised up.

Do not use aggressive cleaning agents (use cleaning agent enclosed).

Check sealing surface for damage (visual check).

Assembling

CAUTION!
Moisture and dirt particles must not enter the inside of the control module.

Blowing out the control module or hydraulic assembly with compressed air is not permitted.

Excessive shaking (e.g. dropping, impact) may destroy the control module. Control module must then no longer be used.

- Carefully slide control module - 1 - with coils hanging down over hydraulic assembly valves - 2 -. Make sure valves do not cant.





- Edge of control module housing must slide over shoulder on hydraulic assembly.

Use new bolts.

A new control module may be assembled on an already used hydraulic unit twice at maximum in order to guarantee the seal of the elastic gaskets.

A control module which was once in driving operation must not be installed a second time.

- Press control module onto hydraulic assembly and evenly install new bolts - 1 - and - 2 - (do not tighten) until module evenly contacts ABS Hydraulic Unit (N55).





- Install bolts - 1 - through - 6 - as far as stop, do not tighten.

- Tighten bolts - 1 - through - 6 - in specified sequence.

Torque specification 2.9 Nm.

- After installing, check whether all bolt heads have made contact.
