Removing


Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to=> [ Restraint System Components General Safety Precautions ] .

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must discharge static electricity. For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Switch the ignition on.

- Disconnect the battery ground cable with the ignition switched on.

- Remove the front seat. Refer to => [ Front Seat ] Front Seat.

- Mount the (VAS 6136) on the (VAS 6095).

- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.

- Disengage the lower clamping strip for the backrest cover and backrest frame.

Lay plastic film between the seat pan cover and the backrest frame to protect against metal shavings.







Eye injury risk.

Wear protective eyewear!

- Drill out rivet - 2 -.

- Disconnect the electrical connectors - 1 - and - 3 - at lumbar support curvature and height adjustment motors.

- Free up the wiring harness on the four-way lumbar support.

- Disengage four-way lumbar support - 3 - and the springs - 2 - (quantity: 2) on the backrest frame - 1 -.






- Remove the four-way lumbar support toward the rear.

Installing

- Engage the four-way lumbar support - 3 - and the springs - 2 - (quantity: 2) on the backrest frame - 1 -.

- Before securing rivet - 4 -, a plastic washer - 1 - must be placed between lumbar support - 2 - and backrest frame - 3 -.






- Rivet the four-way lumbar support frame - 2 - with the backrest frame - 3 -.

Further installation is performed in reverse sequence of removal, but observe the following:

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.


Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Switch on ignition.

- Connect the battery ground cable with the ignition turned on.

- If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the Vehicle diagnostic tester.
