Adaptive Cruise Control

Adaptive Cruise Control

Distance regulation sensor and distance regulation control module (J428) are installed in one housing. If sensor/control module is faulty, the entire unit must be replaced.

In the following description, the sensor/control module unit is identified as the "sensor".

The sensor is located behind the front bumper license plate holder. The license plate holder consists of material that can be penetrated by radar and changes such as painting, applying stickers, etc. can lead to malfunctions.

Malfunctions can also occur due to contamination on the sensor. Remove license plate holder from sensor according to repair manual and clean inner part of license plate holder and sensor.

Before performing ACC adjustment, Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) memory must be interrogated and malfunctions corrected.

ACC control module "measured value block 2" shows whether sensor is only slightly misaligned.

The ACC adjustment may only be set using a VW/Audi-approved wheel alignment tester and adjustment device!

A correct adjustment is required for perfect ACC function.

A new adjustment is necessary if:

Rear axle toe is adjusted.

The complete adaptive cruise control sensor (G550) must be replaced.

Cross member for bumper is loosened or adjusted.

There is damage on the front end.

The adjustment angle is greater than - 0.8° to + 0.8°.
