Vacuum Reservoir In Intake Manifold, Checking For Leaks
Vacuum Reservoir in Intake Manifold, Checking for Leaks
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213)
Work procedure
- First check whether all vacuum hoses on intake manifold are undamaged and connected correctly.
- Remove vacuum hose from Intake Manifold Runner Control (IMRC) valve (N316) on intake manifold.
- Position slide ring - 1 - on hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) in - A - position for "Vacuum".
- Connect hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) to intake manifold connecting pieces.
- Generate 0.3 bar vacuum using hand vacuum pump.
• Due to the large volume in the vacuum reservoir, up to 30 pumps may be required to generate a vacuum 0.3 bar.
- Check display on hand vacuum pump (VAS 6213) pressure gauge after 3 to 5 minutes.
- If pressure continues to be 0.3 bar, vacuum reservoir in intake manifold is OK.
- If pressure falls, replace intake manifold.
