Self-Leveling Suspension






Electrical and Electronic Components and Component Locations Overview






1 Right Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G342)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G341) and ] Left Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G341) and Right Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G342)

Component location: In right upper wheel housing

2 Right Front Suspension Strut (air suspension)

With Right Front Dampening Adjustment Valve (N337)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Suspension Strut ] Air Suspension Strut

Filling, refer to => [ System, Venting or Filling ] System, Venting or Filling

3 Air Supply Unit with Solenoid Valve Block

Air supply unit without solenoid valve block, removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Supply Unit without Solenoid Valve Block ] Air Supply Unit Without Solenoid Valve Block

Air supply unit with solenoid valve block, removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Supply Unit with Solenoid Valve Block ] Air Supply Unit With Solenoid Valve Block

If the air supply unit is being replaced, then the level control system compressor relay (J403) must also be replaced.

Component location: Right front, on underbody

Line arrangement on solenoid valve block, refer to => [ Solenoid Valve Block, Line Arrangement ] Self-Leveling Suspension

4 Left Front Suspension Strut (air suspension)

With left front dampening adjustment valve (N336)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Suspension Strut ] Air Suspension Strut.

5 Left Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G341)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G341) and ] Left Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G341) and Right Front Body Acceleration Sensor (G342).

Component location: In left upper wheel housing

6 Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77) ] Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77).

After loosening, adapt control position, refer to => [ Control Position, Programming ] Programming and Relearning

If the right rear level control system sensor was adapted on vehicles with lane assist, the directional stabilization assistance control module (J759) must be calibrated. Refer to => [ Lane Assist Calibration Procedure ] Lane Assist Calibration Procedure.

7 Right Rear Suspension Strut (air suspension)

With right rear dampening adjustment valve (N339)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Suspension Strut ] Air Suspension Strut.

8 Load Level Button (E539)

Component location: in right side trim in luggage compartment

9 Level Control System Control Module (J197)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Level Control System Control Module (J197) ] Service and Repair.

Component location: at right in luggage compartment, underneath spare wheel cover

10 Pressure Reservoir in Luggage Compartment

If pressure reservoir is removed, pressure reservoir system vent must first be performed with (VAS 5051B) via "Guided Fault Finding"

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Pressure Reservoir ] Self-Leveling Suspension.

Component location: At left in luggage compartment, underneath spare wheel cover

11 Rear Body Acceleration Sensor (G343)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Rear Body Acceleration Sensor (G343) ] Rear Body Acceleration Sensor (G343).

Component location: In luggage compartment beneath left trim in underbody, underneath spare wheel cover

12 Left Rear Suspension Strut (air suspension)

With left rear dampening adjustment valve (N338)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Air Suspension Strut ] Air Suspension Strut.

13 Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77) ] Left Rear Level Control System Sensor (G76) and Right Rear Level Control System Sensor (G77).

After loosening, adapt control position, refer to => [ Control Position, Programming ] Programming and Relearning

If the left rear level control system sensor was adapted on vehicles with lane assist, the directional stabilization assistance control module (J759) must be calibrated. Refer to => [ Lane Assist Calibration Procedure ] Lane Assist Calibration Procedure.

14 Left Front Pressure Reservoir to Underbody

If pressure reservoir is removed, pressure reservoir system vent must first be performed with (VAS 5051B) via "Guided Fault Finding"

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Pressure Reservoir ] Self-Leveling Suspension.

Component location: Left front, on underbody

15 Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control Sensor (G289) ] Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control Sensor (G289).

After loosening, adapt control position, refer to => [ Control Position, Programming ] Programming and Relearning

If the left front level control system sensor was adapted on vehicles with lane assist, the directional stabilization assistance control module (J759) must be calibrated. Refer to => [ Lane Assist Calibration Procedure ] Lane Assist Calibration Procedure.

16 Right Front Level Control Sensor (G289)

Removing and installing, refer to => [ Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control Sensor (G289) ] Left Front Level Control System Sensor (G78) and Right Front Level Control Sensor (G289).

After loosening, adapt control position. Refer to => [ Control Position, Programming ] Programming and Relearning

If the right front level control system sensor (G289) was adapted on vehicles with lane assist, the directional stabilization assistance control module must be calibrated. Refer to => [ Lane Assist Calibration Procedure ] Lane Assist Calibration Procedure.
