Parking Brake, Adjusting Basic Setting
It is necessary to adjust the parking brake when:
• New parking brake shoes.
• New rear brake discs.
• Foot parking brake has too much movement.
• New parking brake cables.
• It is only possible to adjust the parking brake correctly if the cables and all moving parts of the parking brake move easily.
• Make sure the brake cables are routed and guided correctly!
• Adjust each side of the parking brake.
• Adjustment must only be performed on both adjustment devices for rear wheels! Adjustment must never be performed at foot operated parking brake lever or transfer module on center console!
- Parking brake in rest position and disengaged.
- Remove rear wheels.
• The brake discs must turn freely.
- Remove locking bolt - arrow - for adjustment nut of parking brake.
• Not all models have the sealing plug.
- Turn the brake disc until the adjustment nut is visible through the hole in the locking bolt.
- Insert a screwdriver through the hole in the locking bolt and turn the adjustment nut - A - against the pull spring - B - until the brake shoe touches the brake drum and it is no longer possible to turn the brake disc.
- Then loosen adjustment nut 6 detents. The air gap is now set and the brake disc must be able to turn freely.
- Free play of foot operated parking brake lever must be checked again. Refer to => [ Pedal Parking Brake, Adjusting Free Play ] Pedal Parking Brake, Adjusting Free Play.
- Install wheels.
• After changing the brake shoes and then performing a basic adjustment of the parking brake, run in the brake shoes.
