Transmission
The automatic transmission 09D is removed together with the engine, then separated from the engine.
- Rotate the crankshaft 120° in direction of engine rotation and install the torque converter bolts through the opening for the starter and tighten them hand-tight. Refer to => [ Torque Converter Overview ] Description and Operation.
Danger of leaks on the torque converter seal.
• The covers - items 3 through 8 -=> [ Covers ] Description and Operation prevent dust and dirt from getting into the torque converter bellhousing. Install the covers if necessary.
- After installing an exchanged transmission or after repairing transmission, refer to => [ ATF Pipes and Cooler, Cleaning ] Service and Repair
- Install the selector lever cable and check the adjustment. Refer to => [ Selector Lever Cable ] Selector Lever Cable.
- Check the ATF level. Refer to => [ ATF Level, Checking and Filling ] ATF Level, Checking and Filling.
Tightening Specifications
• The tightening specifications apply only to lightly lubricated, oiled, phosphated or blackened nuts and bolts.
• Additional lubricant such as engine or transmission oil may be used, but do not use graphite lubricant.
• Do not use any ungreased parts.
• Tightening specification tolerance: ± 15 %.
