Backrest Adjustment Motor

Removal

CAUTION!
The backrest adjustment motor cannot be replaced because the end positions cannot be found again.

If the motor is faulty, replace the backrest frame with the backrest adjustment motor, the shaft and the backrest stop switch housing.

Remove the side airbag, four-way lumbar support with motors, stop switch and headrest guides from the backrest frame with the fault motor and install these parts in the new backrest frame.

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity ". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Backrest ]. Backrest

- Remove backrest cover panel. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] All Seats.

- Remove cover with upholstery. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover and Upholstery ] Seat Covers and Upholstery.

- Remove side airbag. Refer to => [ Side Airbag ] Side Airbag.

- Remove four-way lumbar support. Refer to => [ Four-Way Lumbar Support ] All Seats.

- Disconnect electrical connections.

- Remove the lumbar support curvature adjustment motor. Refer to => [ Lumbar Support Curvature Adjustment Motor ].

- Remove the lumbar support height adjustment motor. Refer to => [ Lumbar Support Height Adjustment Motor ].

- Remove the backrest stop switch. Refer to => [ Backrest End Switch ]. Backrest End Switch

- Remove headrest guides. Refer to => [ Headrest Guide ] All Seats.

Installation

Installation is reverse of removal, but note the following:

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions for pyrotechnic components.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity ". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Ensure that electrical connections are pushed in as far as stop and engage with a click.

- Install the side airbag, four-way lumbar support with motors, stop switch and headrest guides in the new backrest frame.

- Make sure the headrest guides engage correctly in the backrest frame.

- Switch on ignition.

CAUTION!
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Disconnect the battery ground wire with the ignition switched on.

If Airbag Malfunction Indicator Lamp (MIL) (K75) indicates a fault after installation, DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again.
