Engine - Coolant Temperature Sensor/Switch: Service and Repair






Engine Coolant Temperature Sensor

Removing

Engine cold.

- Install protective body covers. Refer to => [ Protective Body Covers, Installing ] Protective Body Covers, Installing.

- Remove the right engine compartment trim - 3 -.





CAUTION!
The vehicle could overheat if the cap is installed incorrectly.

The cap must engage noticeably when sealing.

- Open the cap on the coolant reservoir to release any pressure in the coolant system and then close it again.

- Disconnect electrical connector - arrow - on Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62).





Lay a cloth below to catch escaping coolant.

- Remove the retaining clamp and the Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62) from the connecting pieces.

The installation location is shown with the engine compartment crossmember removed.

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

Replace O-ring.

To prevent coolant loss, immediately insert new Engine Coolant Temperature (ECT) Sensor (G62) in connecting pieces.

- Install the engine compartment trim.

- Check coolant level => [ Filling ] Procedures.
