Components Outside Passenger Compartment

Component Group 1

1 Coolant Fan 2 (V177)

Different versions of the Coolant Fan (V7) and coolant fan 2 are installed depending on vehicle equipment.

The request to switch the coolant fans on is transmitted by the Climatronic Control Module (J255) via the databus to the respective Engine Control Module (ECM). The respective ECM then activates the coolant fan and coolant fan 2 directly or via the coolant fan control module.

For checking the radiator fan activation by the Climatronic control module refer to vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding".

The respective ECM switches the coolant fan and coolant fan 2 (directly or via the coolant fan control module) continuously without stages to the desired output (depending on engine type). Check using vehicle diagnosis, testing and information system VAS 5051/ under "Guided Fault Finding" and.
