Clutch System, Manual Transmission, Bleeding

CAUTION!
Follow the safety precautions when working with brake fluid.

Brake fluid specification.

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Brake Filler/Bleeder Unit (VAS 5234)

After working on the hydraulic clutch mechanism, the system must be bled.

Before bleeding, bring the clutch pedal back to the resting position and fill the brake fluid reservoir to the "max" mark with brake fluid.

Brake fluid must not come into contact with transmission. If necessary, clean transmission housing.

- Remove the air filter housing.





- Wind Cowl.





CAUTION!
Danger of damaging the wind cowl.

- Connect the Brake Filler/Bleeder Unit (VAS 5234) to the brake fluid reservoir.

- Cover the opening - arrow - on the transmission with a clean cloth.





This is necessary to prevent brake fluid from entering the clutch housing.

- Remove the protective cap from the vent screw - B - and connect the bleeder hose - A -.

- Switch the bleeder unit on, open the vent screw - B - and drain approximately 100 cm3 of brake fluid.

Working pressure 2.5 bar

Ensure correct bleeder hose seating during bleeding process.

- Close the vent screw - B -.

- Press the clutch pedal minimum 10 times.

- Open the vent screw - B - and drain approximately 50 cm3 of brake fluid.

- Close the vent screw - B - => [ (Item 15) Vent bolt ] .

- Pull off bleeder hose and set protective cap in place.

- Remove the Brake Filler/Bleeder Unit (VAS 5234) from the brake fluid reservoir.
