Navigation System, Error Messages

If there is a malfunction in the system, either a fault is saved in the DTC and/or an error message is given on the Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) display.

Indicator in display:





This error message appears:

No or faulty CAN communication between Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) and Navigation Interface (R94) (wiring interruption or wiring not connected).

Navigation Interface (R94) is faulty.

If this malfunction occurs, no RDS TMC traffic messages can be received and setting menu "Traffic jam function" cannot be called up.

Indicator in display:





This error message appears:

No or faulty CAN communication between Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) and Telephone/Telematics Control Module (J526) (wiring interruption or wiring not connected).

Telephone/Telematics Control Module (J256) is faulty.

Terminal 15 is off (ignition switched off).

If this malfunction occurs, telephone cannot receive TMC traffic messages. Dynamic route guidance is not possible and the "Traffic Jam Function " setting menu cannot be called up.

Indicator in display:





This error message appears:

No or faulty CAN communication between Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) and Chip Card Reader (R99) (electronic route book)

Chip Card Reader (R99) not connected or faulty.

If this malfunction occurs, data cannot be read from the Chip Card Reader (R99) into the Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) and also cannot be collected on the chip card.

Indicator in display:





This message appears:

If the customer has not yet activated his electronic route book chip card on his PC after vehicle delivery.

This message in the navigation display is not a malfunction.

Make customer aware of this.

Indicator in display:





This message appears:

When no DX version navigation CD was inserted.

- Inset navigation CD with DX logo.

Make customer aware of this.

Messages are shown until malfunction is corrected or confirmed by pressing RETURN button.

RNSE-E Navigation System, Error Messages

If there is a malfunction in the system, either a fault is saved in the DTC and/or an error message is given on the Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) display.

At this time, the following error messages can be shown on the display.

Indicator in display:





This error message appears:

DVD cannot be read.

DVD is faulty.

DVD drive is faulty.

- See if DVD drive can read a replacement DVD.

Same error:

- Perform in adaptation channel 41.

Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) to do so.

Indicator in display:





This error message appears:

DVD drive cannot read DVD data.

DVD is faulty.

DVD drive is faulty.

- See if DVD drive can read a replacement DVD.

Same error:

- Perform in adaptation channel 41.

Use the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051) to do so.

Navigation System Route Book, Error Messages

Error messages appear on the Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) display.

Indicator in display:





Error message is shown until RETURN button is pressed.

Malfunction cause

CAN BUS (Infotainment) from Operating Electronics, Navigation Control Module (J402) to Chip Card Reader (R99) interrupted.

- Check CAN BUS connection.

Chip Card Reader (R99) is faulty.

- Replace Chip Card Reader (R99). Refer to => [ Navigation Chip Card Reader ] Navigation System.
