Erasing DTC Memory, Ending Output

- With the ignition switched off, connect the Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A) e.g. with the diagnostic cable (VAS 5051/5A) and the K-wire adapter (VAS 6017B) (or the K-wire adapter (VAS 6017A)) to the 16-pin data link connector (DLC). Refer to => [ VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions.

- Switch ignition on.

- Select Address word "08" for A/C heater/electronics. Refer to => [ VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions ] VAS 5051A, Connecting and Selecting Functions.

Erasing DTC Memory

Requirements:

• The DTC memory was queried. Refer to => [ DTC Memory, Interrogating ] DTC Memory, Interrogating and all displayed faults were corrected.

Indication on display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A):





- Select function "05 - Erase DTC memory".

Indication on display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A):





• No display appears in display field - 1 -.

• In display field - 2 - a field appears with the note that by pressing the OK button data (DTC memory) will be erased and the question whether the function should be executed.

• If "DTC memory was not yet checked" appears in display field - 1 -, check the DTC memory and if necessary correct any faults.

• If e.g. ignition was switched off between checking DTC memory and erasing DTC memory, DTC memory will not be erased.

- Press the "OK" button in display field - 2 - on the display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A).

As soon as DTC memory is erased, "DTC memory erased" appears in display field - 1 -.

- Press <- button on display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A).

Ending Output

Requirements:

• The DTC memory was queried and deleted, and the basic setting was performed and the coding was checked. Refer to => [ A/C Control Head Climatronic Control Module, Coding ] A/C Control Head Climatronic Control Module, Coding.

• The currently valid coding transmitted by the instrument cluster control module (J285) is displayed in the measured value block (display group "019").

Indication on display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A):





- Select the "06 - End output" function.

- Wait until this display (start menu) appears in display of Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System (VAS 5051A ).





- Switch off ignition and unplug diagnostic connector.
