Measured values of the following sensors (evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263), fresh air intake duct temperature sensor (G89)) and the temperature values transmitted by the instrument cluster control module (J285 ) (calculated outside temperature and the outside temperature measured by the outside air temperature sensor (G17))
• Depending on the setting at the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head, the temperature at the evaporator is regulated to the following values:
- In normal control mode between 2°C and 10°C
- At temperatures less than 13°C at least 3°C under the determined outside temperature but not less than 2°C.
- At temperatures less than 16? and in rain (windshield wipers on) at least 6? under the determined outside temperature but not less than 2°C.
- In the case of the temperature preselect "Low" on the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head to 2°C
• If a temperature less than 2°C is measured by the evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263) for a long period, the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head switches the compressor off.
• The measured value of the evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263) is used to regulate the evaporator temperature. The evaporator temperature is changed by activating the A/C compressor regulator valve (N280) (display group "001"). Refer to => [ Display Group 001 ].
• - When setting the "recirculation mode" operating mode on the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head to at least 5°C but not less than 2°C.
• In the case of high ambient temperatures, the defined temperatures on the evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263) are not always reached (even though the compressor is running at maximum output).
• The activation of the A/C compressor regulator valve (N280) for regulating the compressor output is displayed in display fields "1" and "2" of display group " 001". Refer to => [ Display Group 001 ].
• If the evaporator vent temperature sensor (G263) is not installed properly or delivers an excessively high temperature value, the evaporator can ice up (the Climatronic control module (J255) A/C control head assumes on the basis of the measured value that the required evaporator temperature is not reached).
• Check the measured value of the outside air temperature sensor (G17). Refer to => Vehicle Diagnosis, Testing and Information System VAS 5051 in the "guided fault finding" function.
• The measured values of the outside air temperature sensor (G17) and the fresh air intake duct temperature sensor (G89) are affected by the heat radiating from the radiator, the exhaust system, etc. when the vehicle is at a standstill for example. Therefore, a calculation program is stored in the instrument cluster control module (J285) that suppresses a high temperature, for example if the vehicle gets caught in traffic after a long drive or when driving in city traffic or the cooler calculated value is displayed instead of the measured value in the outside air temperature display.
• The basis for the display in display field "3" is the lower of the two measured ambient temperatures (display field "2" and display field "4"). After the ignition is switched off, the value is saved for up to 4 hours and the current measured values are not displayed.
