Transmission Mounting, Removing and Installing

Transmission mounting, removing and installing - 6 Spd. Manual Transmission 0A3 All Wheel Drive

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required





^ Engine and transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A





Removing

- If installed, loosen quick release fasteners - 3 - and remove rear noise insulation - B -.





- Disconnect exhaust system at clamp - arrows -.





- Use engine and transmission jack V.A.G 1383 A to lift transmission up slightly. Insert a wooden block - 1 - between transmission and transmission jack.





- First remove bolts - 3 - and then bolts - 2 - at tunnel cross member.
- Lower transmission slightly.
- Unscrew the two nuts - 1 - and push tunnel cross member backwards slightly.





- Unscrew transmission mounting - arrows -.

Installing

Installation is performed in reverse sequence; note the following:





- Install transmission mounting on transmission. Tighten bolts - arrows - to torque setting.





- Bolt tunnel cross member onto transmission mounting - 1 -.
- Lift transmission far enough to be able to screw in the bolts - 2 -.
- First tighten bolts - 2 - and then bolts - 3 -.
- Install exhaust system so it is free of stress.
- Install noise insulation below transmission.
