Torsion Bar Bearing

Torsion Bar Bearing

Removing

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Adjust the front seat so that it is in the highest position. This reduces the spring force when removing and installing the torsion bar and the risk of damaging the threaded connections between upper/lower frames of the seat pan.

The torsion bar exerts considerable spring force. Be absolutely sure to comply with the bullet points below to avoid injury:

Always remove and install the torsion bar in the sequence described and only using the tools specified.

Never use pliers and other levers.

Do not stand directly in front of the torsion bar when removing and installing it. Stand off to the side.

- Remove the torsion bar. Refer to => [ Torsion Bar ] Torsion Bar.

- Remove the bearing - 1 - out of the guide - 2 -.

Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.

Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.

Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.

Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.

- Connect the battery ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.

If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
