Backrest Release Cable

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

• Pop Rivet Pliers (VAS 5072)

• Drill

• 6.0 mm drill bit

• Protective Eyewear

Removing






- Remove the backrest. Refer to => [ Front Backrest ] Front Backrest.

- Remove the backrest cover. Refer to => [ Bucket Seat Backrest Cover and Padding Overview ] Bucket Seat Backrest Cover and Padding Overview.

- Unscrew the screws. Refer to - arrows - at the cover.

- Remove cover - 1 -.

- Turn the cover and release the retaining tabs - arrows -.






- Remove cover - 1 -.

- Remove control cable bracket - 3 - for the release cables for releasing the backrest at the cover.






- Remove release lever - 2 -.

- Detach release cables - 1 - in the direction of the - arrow -.

- Repeat work steps on opposite side.

- Remove backrest cover and backrest frame. Refer to => [ Backrest Cover ] Backrest Cover.






- Remove the bolts - 3 -and- 4 -.

Eye injury risk.

• Wear protective eyewear!

- Drill out the blind rivet - 2 - with a 6 mm drill in backrest frame mount - 1 -.

- Tip the backrest frame mount to the side and remove control cable bracket - 2 - for the release cables at backrest frame mount - 3 -.






- Disengage release cable eye - 1 - at release lever - 4 - by sliding the eye forward - arrow - and removing.

- Remove the release cables upward out of the backrest frame.

Installing

Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:

- Insert the bolts with locking compound. For locking compound refer to the Electronic Parts Catalog (ETKA).

- Adjust the backrest lock release cables. Refer to => [ Backrest Release Cable, Adjusting ] Backrest Release Cable, Adjusting.
