Memory Seat/Steering Column Adjustment Control Module
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Trim Removal Wedge (3409)
Removing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, disconnecting the connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
- Turn on the ignition.
- Disconnect the battery ground (GND) cable from the battery.
- Remove the front seat:
• Standard seat, Sport seat (power) and Comfort seat. Refer to => [ Power Standard Front Seat ] Power Standard Front Seat.
• Super Sport seat. Refer to => [ Super Sport Front Seat ] Super Sport Front Seat.
- Attach the front seat to the fixture for seat repair (VAS 6136). Refer to => [ Front Seat, Installing on the ] Front Seat, Installing on the Fixture For Seat Repair (VAS 6136).
- Disconnect the connectors - 2 through 5 - on the control module - 1 -.
• The number of connectors may vary depending on the equipment. The description shows the version with the most equipment.
- Unclip the tabs - arrows - using the trim removal wedge (3409).
- Carefully tilt the control module - 1 - in the direction of- arrow A - out of the retainers - 2 -.
- Slide the control module in the direction of - arrow B -.
- Disengage the control module hooks - arrow - from the bracket.
- Remove the control module from the bracket.
Installing
• Follow all safety precautions when working on pyrotechnic components. Refer to => [ Safety Precautions ] Service Precautions.
• Before handling pyrotechnical components (for example, connecting electrical connector), the person handling them must "discharge static electricity". For example, by briefly touching the door striker pin.
Install in reverse order of removal. Note the following:
• Make sure the memory seat adjustment control module engages audibly in the retainer.
• Make sure the connectors are installed all the way in and are secure.
Connect the battery with the ignition switched on. Pyrotechnic components could deploy after connecting the battery if they were not repaired correctly. Individuals must not be inside the vehicle when connecting the battery.
- Connect the battery ground (GND) cable with the ignition turned on.
• If the airbag indicator lamp (K75) indicates a fault after installation, the DTC memory must be checked, deleted and checked again using the vehicle diagnostic tester.
