Engine Lubrication: Testing and Inspection
Oil Pressure and Oil Pressure Switch (F1), Checking
Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required
• Oil Pressure Gauge (V.A.G 1342) and Adapter (V.A.G 1342/14)
• Voltage tester (V.A.G 1527B)
• Connector Test Set (V.A.G 1594C)
Procedure
• Oil level OK
• Engine oil temperature approximately 80 °C (176 °F)
- Remove the oil pressure switch. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch (F1) ] Service and Repair.
- Install the (V.A.G 1342) with (V.A.G 1342/14) into the hole for the oil pressure switch.
- Install oil pressure switch - 2 - in (V.A.G 1342).
- Attach the brown wire on the oil pressure gauge to the ground.
Oil Pressure Switch, Checking
- Connect the (V.A.G 1527B) using adapter cables from the (V.A.G 1594C) to the oil pressure switch and battery positive.
• LED must not light up.
• If the LED lights up, then the oil pressure switch must be replaced.
- Start the engine.
• Because the switch point for the oil pressure switch can be exceeded when starting, watch the oil pressure gauge and LED when starting the engine.
• The LED must illuminate at 1.2 to 1.6 bar.
- If the LED does not light up, replace the oil pressure switch.
Oil Pressure, Checking
- Start the engine.
• Oil pressure at idle: at least 1.5 bar.
• Oil pressure at 2000 RPM: at least 3.5 bar.
Assembling
- Install the oil pressure switch. Refer to => [ Oil Pressure Switch (F1) ] Service and Repair.
