Oxygen Sensors






Oxygen Sensors

Special tools, testers and auxiliary items required

Ring spanner 7-piece set for oxygen sensor (3337)

Removing

During installation, reinstall all heat insulation sleeves and heat shields at the same locations.

All cable ties opened or cut during engine removal must be reinstalled at the same locations during installation.

- Remove engine.

- Leave engine with transmission installed on the scissor lift platform (VAS 6131).

- Remove right oxygen sensor connection heat shield from transmission - arrows -.





- Remove affected oxygen sensor electrical connector from bracket on transmission.





1. Gray Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 4 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G288)

2. Black Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 3 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G287)

3. Brown for Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130)

4. Brown for Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 4 (G286) (in front of catalytic converter)

5. black Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 (G108) (in front of catalytic converter)

6. Black Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G131)

- Disconnect affected electrical connector and free up electrical wiring.

Left exhaust tract:





- Remove affected oxygen sensor with the Ring spanner 7-piece set for oxygen sensor (3337).

1. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 4 (G286) (in front of catalytic converter)

2. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 4 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G288)

3. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 3 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G287)

Right exhaust system tract:





- Remove affected oxygen sensor using tool from Ring spanner 7-piece set for oxygen sensor (3337).

1. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G130)

2. Oxygen Sensor (O2S) 2 Behind Three Way Catalytic Converter (TWC) (G131)

3. Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) 2 (G108) (in front of catalytic converter)

Installing

Installation is in reverse order of removal, note the following:

New oxygen sensors are coated with assembly paste; the paste must not get into slots of oxygen sensor body.

For a used oxygen sensor, only coat threads with hot bolt paste. This paste must not come into contact with sensor slots. Hot bolt paste.

Electrical wire of oxygen sensor must always be secured in the same position when installing so that contact with the exhaust pipe is avoided.

- Install engine.
