Cylinder Head Bolts





Replace bolts
First pass Hand tight
Second pass: Bolts 1 to 12 30 Nm
Third pass: Bolts 1 to 12 60 Nm
Fourth pass: Bolts 1 to 12 Tighten 90°
Fifth pass: Bolts 1 to 12 Tighten 90°
Sixth pass: Arrows A & B 11 Nm
Final pass: Arrows A Tighten 90°

Checking Cylinder Head for Distortion





Check cylinder head at multiple points for distortion, using straight edge and feeler gauges.

Maximum permissible distortion 0.1 mm

Reworking Dimension, Cylinder Head





Resurfacing cylinder head (face grinding) is only permissible to minimum dimension - a -.

Minimum dimension - a - 139.5 mm

Camshaft Guide Frame Bolts

CAUTION!
Danger of damaging the camshaft guide frame.

The guide frame bolts must only be tighten as described.

Tighten the bolts in 4 steps according to the tightening sequence:









• After installing the camshafts, the engine may not be started for approximately 30 minutes. The hydraulic adjusting elements must seat themselves (otherwise the valves will seat themselves on the pistons).

• After working on the valvetrain and lifters, carefully rotate the crankshaft by hand at least 2 full revolutions before starting to be sure that valves do not strike the pistons.

Intake Manifold Bolts
Replace bolts
First pass 8 Nm
Second pass 9 Nm
Final pass Tighten 90°

Exhaust Manifold Nuts

















Replace nuts
First pass Hand tight
Second pass 10 Nm
Final pass 25 Nm
